Last week Kathryn was invited to the esteemed annual training meeting organised by the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland. This was a lively session about proctology surgery featuring several experts in their field. Kathryn spoke to trainees across 88 countries regarding local anaesthetic surgery aka wide awake proctology. The talk generated lots of discussion!

Kathryn organised a poll of the community at large in colorectal surgery to see who was seeing and training in wide awake proctology….across 900 trainees attending the course, only 25% had received training in this type of surgery.
